Albany School’s Garage Roof Collapses
December 28, 2009 in Damage Reports
The Albany Minnesota School District reported the partial collapse of it’s transportation garage’s roof Friday. The pole barn style structure could not withstand the weight of the wet snow that had fallen for several days. 10 vehicles inside the building were damaged and put out of commission until repairs and inspections can be made.
Superintendent Scott Thielman said the accident’s timing was good because kids will be on holiday break until Jan 4th. Cranes are being brought in today to lift the damaged roof so that the vehicles can be removed.
Thielman said they have backup transportation plans ready to put into action for the students if the vehicles can not be repaired before school resumes next week.
